Sean Charles/Producer/Increased Velocity
Located in the videogame hotbed of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, Sean Charles, over the past 14 years, has expanded his sought after skills from a creative award winning sound designer and composer to managing entire sound teams within the videogame industry. Working on every platform from Sony's Playstation 1 to Microsoft's Xbox 360 and the Sony Playstation 3 has provided Sean with global insight into all aspects of audio for the gaming industry.
Sean currently resides at the Walt Disney Company where he manages a diverse audio team at Disney Interactive Studios. As a manager and team leader, Sean oversees all creative content. He manages both on and off site sound designers and composers, works with outside contractors and deals with internal studio operations.
Sean previously worked at Electronic Arts where he shipped 2 of the most heavily audio focused products on the market; Def Jam Vendetta and Def Jam Fight for NY. This same aesthetic and attention for detail has allowed Sean to lend this same 'signature' music and sound effects that have graced titles for Sony, Electronic Arts, FOX Interactive, Midway, THQ and Radical Entertainment.
Sean's expanded sound design palette as a sound designer has enabled him to pick out fine nuances
within the sonic realm when porting audio from one game console to another. This experience has helped the products he has accomplished achieve high audio accolades and awards. Not content to sit on his laurels, Sean also has the distinct honor of being a sound developer for the music industry's leading musical instrument manufacturers. He is responsible for the factory presets and signature sound sets for the Clavia Nord Lead series of Instruments and Roland's Fantom X for Roland Corporation Japan, just to name a few. Pushing the boundaries in the quest for excellence in audio for video game production, he combined his aptitude for sound design and music resulted in a Dolby Laboratories certified Audio Sample Library CD which contained the first ever 'encoded' Dolby Pro Logic audio files. This work entitled Increased Velocity - Surround Tools for Film, Multimedia, and Music rapidly garnered world wide acclaim and praise from many of the world's premier producers in Music and Film. As a result of this, Sean has and continues to maintain an extensive involvement with the music industry both in the U.S. and Canada allowing him to forge long-term working relationships with members of the top music production teams (Michael Jackson, Christina Aguilera, and Prince).
